Apologies if it's already been mentioned, but one of the landmark articles, "Board Books Go Boom" (by CCBC's Kathleen T. Horning) is online at the Horn Book's website, along with Martha Parravano's "Rumpeta-ing through Reading: Picture Books for the Very Young". Although the latter deals with picture books, I've often paired it with the Horning for units studying board books because so many of the concepts about what makes a book successful are also applicable to board books.
