I've been a member of this community for years, and having fought 2 citizen requests to have books removed in the past decade, /with the assistance of members of this list,/ I found the original post mildly interesting both professionally and personally. I did not find it inappropriate; we list-members are all passionate about information, literature and books. The dilemma of being hosted on a public university server, however, makes it difficult to discuss the reality of book banning without discussing politics and local policy. Hopefully, the topic of dealing with this issue can and will be discussed by writers, readers and librarians at some later date on this listserv.
Respectfully,
Deborah Y. Jung, Information Specialist Irwin Avenue Open Elementary Charlotte, NC 980-343-5480 (work) d.jung at cms.k12.nc.us (work) dyj7188 at earthlink.net (home)
