Featured speakers are: Steve Jenkins E. B. Lewis Grace Lin Barbara McClintock David Wiesner Mo Willems
The Thursday night (Oct. 23) opening at the Westport Public Library will feature a lecture by Nick Clark, curator of the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Northampton, MA. A tour of the nearby Weston Woods studios with Carnegie-award-winning producers Paul Gagne and Melissa Reilly is available for participants on Friday (Oct. 24), as well as a dinner with the artists that evening.
On Saturday morning (Oct. 25) each artist will speak briefly about his or her work, and on Saturday afternoon they will each conduct two small group discussions, followed by an autographing session. Christy Ottaviano, Editorial director of Christy Ottaviano Books at Henry Holt and Co. will conduct small group sessions for those who would like to learn more about the publishing process. Books will be available for sale throughout the festival.
The Festival, in its 8th year, celebrates the legacy of Robert Lawson, who lived and worked in Westport for many years until his death in 1957.
Come to New England in the fall for a stimulating and exciting gathering of picture book artists!
