I got inspiration from one of my favorite childhood book series to take a vacation this summer: I visited the farm in upstate New York where Almanzo Wilder lived during the time that Laura Ingalls Wilder's book "Farmer Boy" is set
(http://www.almanzowilderfarm.com/). They have rebuilt the barns and restored the house, and you can take a tour and visit the gift shop. It was my second visit to a LIW homestead, and I hope to travel to all the sites in future summers
