I think one of the delightful summer vacation stories is in Nikki Grimes; Danitra Brown Leaves Town. Her best friend Zuri wonders how she will survive the summer w/o Danitra, yet through a constant flow of letters each finds a way to share the ups and downs of being in the city and in the country. The joyful reunion reinforces the stability of their friendshp. A warm piece of poetry,great to share with children who may not have the chance to "leave home for the summer"
