[CCBC-Net] August Discussion: On Vacation

One of the great vacation books from my childhood was Keith Robertson's humorous HENRY REED'S VACATION, chronicling a cross-country family car trip. My most memorable childhood vacation read, tho, was in 1959, where I was so badly sunburnt on a Florida vacation that I had to stay in our motel room for several days, reading the Gideon Bible from cover to cover.

As an adult, I created a vacation tradition for the last 3 Harry Potter books: work the library's Potter party for the midnight release, dri8ve to the local chain store the next morning at 8am, pick up my reserved copy, go home and park myself in a lawn chair in the backyard under a shade tree, and read it through. :-)
