A few of my favourite summertime books for the tween set are:
The Book of One Hundred Truths, by Julie Schumacher While visiting her grandparents in Port Harbor, New Jersey, thirteen-year-old Theodora lists one hundred truths that she discovers while baby-sitting her younger cousins. (CIP)
Summerhouse Time, by Eileen Spinelli Eleven-year-old Eileen always looks forward to August when her extended family gathers at the summerhouse for a month at the beach, but this year she is a bit reluctant to leave behind her first crush, and when she arrives she finds reality is not quite as good as her memories. Presented in simple free verse. (CIP)
  and
All-Season Edie, by Annabel Lyon Edie Snow has always known her family is not normal, but when tragedy strikes, she learns that there is no such thing as normal, and as long as they love one another, they can get through anything. (CIP) This story starts and ends with family vacations.
