Jane,
The "Summer of the Great-Grandmother" is an excellent volume in the "Crosswick Journals" trilogy, and I recommend it to anyone going into a hospice or geriatric (elderly) social work profession. It gives great insight for care-givers. In fact, when our church was starting up a 'Stephen Ministry' (care for shut-ins), I bought a copy from a used book store for the group to pass around. I don't know if they did, but it was available for them.

PS, we still have our autographed copy of "Owl Moon" from when you were in Tallahassee a few years back. :-)
"Libraries allow children to ask questions about the world and find the answers. And the wonderful thing is that once a child learns to use a library, the doors to learning are always open ... every child in America should have access to a well-stocked school or community library"
--Laura Bush, First Lady of the United States

As much as I adored L'Engle personally, I never liked WRINKLE and its sequels. My favorite book of hers was THE SUMMER OF THE GREAT GRANDMOTHER, possibly because I read it as I was caring for my dying father in my own home, surrounded by teenagers and a husband going through tenure.
