I do not want to stray away from the discussion about Minders of Make Believe but speculating/naming writers who will/will not be edited is dangerous turf, hurtful ,too. When I asked about A Wrinkle in Time, I did not know if the author's papers/letters documented the editorial history of the book. One of the pleasures in reading Minders is that it is a story but a story based on fact...not gossip or innuendo. Editors of my generation and older were taught that the editorial relationship between writer/editor was confidential...and it was up to the writer to talk about the nature of the editorial work, or not.
From the chair in which I sit, it is still the way to go. Norma Jean
