I love blogs.
Blogs appeal to me because they are frequently updated as well as the fact that several blog writers aren't "professional" writers or reviewers. They are practicing librarians or educators or book lovers and share their work or thoughts through their blog.
I use the reader service Bloglines so I can login and see which of the blogs I subscribe to have updates. It makes it so easy. Also, most blogs also allow public commenting and in my experience bloggers are very good about responding to comments and questions. Blogs can facilitate a great, and simple, dialog.
Here are a few of my top reads in addition to those previously mentioned.
Book reviewing-- Bookshelves of Doom - Leila is a public librarian and YA reader. Seriously, how could you not read something from a blog called
"Bookshelves of Doom"?
[http://bookshelvesofdoom.blogs.com/bookshelves_of_doom/] The YA YA YAs - "All YA, all the time"
Professional Info-- Chambers County (TX) Library Teen Blog - Amazing teen action going on here. [http://cclteenzread.typepad.com/my_weblog/] Sellers Library Teens - More great teen programs.
[http://sellerslibraryteens.blogspot.com/] YPULSE - a must for anyone working with teens [http://www.ypulse.com/] Cynsations - Blog of author Cynthia Leitich Smith covers all topics kidlit. Lots of interviews as well.
Authors-- Sarah Dessen - Loads of pop culture. Almost daily updates.
[http://writergrl.livejournal.com/] Justine Larbalestier - Her posts on publishing and writing (mostly YA) are some of my favorites. Wife of previously mentioned Scott Westerfeld. I think her blog is more interesting than his. :)
[http://justinelarbalestier.com/blog/] Libba Bray - Her posts are infrequent, but when she does, it's well worth the wait. [http://libba-bray.livejournal.com/]
And a little BSP - my friends and I run
[http://oopswrongcookie.blogspot.com] Blogging is a great way for us to keep track of our reading and share our book thoughts with each other.
