Apologies for sending this post late to the discussion, but I do want to bring to your attention to a new book suitable for middle school and high school readers:
"Mahtab's Story", by Libby Gleeson, is a newly published novel about an Afghani family escaping the Taliban regime and eventually making their way to Australia. The book is fiction, but is based on the true stories of young Afghani women now living in Australia.
