Jeffrey,
Here are some books and a couple of films. As you can see, a number of them are older, and you should take a look at them to see if they meet your needs. I highly recommend The Shared Heart by Adam Mastoon; it's a beautiful photo-essay, and the OP hardcover larger format is especially nice, and is still available on Amazon. Reaching Out: Library Services for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Youth is an especially good film about how libraries can have a positive impact in the lives of queer youth.
BOOKS:
Chandler, Kurt. Passages of Pride: Lesbian and Gay Youth Come of Age. New York: Times Books, 1995. Re-released by Alyson Books, 1997 under the title Passages of Pride: True Stories of Lesbian and Gay Teenagers. Six teens talk about realizing they were gay, coming out, and getting involved in the GLBT community.
Due, Linnea. Joining the Tribe: Growing Up Gay and Lesbian in the '90s. New York: Anchor Books, 1995. Due documents the lives and struggles of a wide range of gay and lesbian teens.
Gray, Mary L. In Your Face: Stories from the Lives of Queer Youth. New York: Haworth Press, 1999. First person accounts from GLBT teens, discussing a broad ranges of issues in their lives, from coming out to first kisses, to school and religion.
Hear Me Out: True Stories of Teens Educating and Confronting Homophobia. 2004. Second Story Press, paper, $9.95. (1-896764-87-8).
In the System, and In the Life: A Guide to the Gay Experience in Foster Care. New York: Youth Communications, 2002. Includes stories by teens and staff, with exercises suitable for staff training and development.
Levithan, David and Billy Merrell. The Full Spectrum: A New Generation of Writing about Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and Other Identities. Knopf, 2006.
Mastoon, Adam. The Shared Heart: Portraits and Stories Celebrating Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Young People. New York: William Morrow: Lothrop, Lee & Shepard Books, 1997. Beautiful photographs by Mastoon combine powerfully with text by the young people featured here who tell about growing up gay.
Revolutionary Voices: A Multicultural Queer Youth Anthology. Los Angeles: Alyson Books, 2000. Ed. Amy Sonnie. This collection presents a broad range of writing and art from queer youth ages 14-26, dealing with gender, sexuality, identity, race, culture, and more.
Smith, Claiborne. "The Wrong Body." Rush Hour: A Journal of Contemporary Voices, Vol. 3, April 2005, pp. 135-151. Delacorte Press. Brief interviews with several transgendered people, aimed at a teen audience.
Sutton, Roger. Hearing Us Out: Voices From the Gay and Lesbian Community. Boston: Little, Brown, 1994. Fifteen interviews introduce a wide range of gay and lesbian teens and adults, breaking down stereotypes and offering teens a future to look forward to.
FILMS:
Homoteens: 5 Portraits of (Mostly Urban African-American, Latino & White) Gay & Lesbian (Uppper-Middle & Working-Middle Class) Youth/Young People. Dir. Joan Jubela. San Francisco: Frameline, 1993. (76 min.).
Reaching Out: Library Services for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender,
& Queer Youth. Produced and directed by Lynne Barnes. San Francisco, 2003. (Available through me)

I am currently using Am I Blue? to discuss issues of
teen's coming to terms with gay/lesbian/bisexual
identities in the course I teach at York University,
The Worlds of Childhood, but I have been thinking that
I'd like to balance it with the real voices of teens
-- there was an amazing anthology called Revolutionary
Voices edited by Amy Sonie which was fabulous but is
not, sadly, out of print and there is a Canadian
collection called Hear Me Out -- anyone on the list
aware of any other teen focused books like this where
teens have the chance to tell their stories? The
approach of my course focuses on hearing the voice of
the child so it would be great to have more "real"
voices!!
