Hello everyone. I recently had the pleasure of reading Firozeeh Dumas' memoir entitled Funny in Farsi. It describes her experience being new to America from Iran. The book was chosen for the Bensenville Reads program in Bensenville, IL. Firoozeh came to Bensenville this past week and spoke to children in the schools, seniors in the residential facilities, and the Bensenville community at large. She is a wonderful storyteller and an advocate for everyone seeing each other as a part of the human community. Her book, like her, is also SOOOOOOOOO humorous! She notes how important she feels it is to have a book out that describes a middle eastern experience that is funny. Her second book, Laughing without an Accent, just came out on Wednesday. I definitely suggest it!!!!
