I hope this isn't too much past the announcement period.
Do you need fresh inspiration for doing book talks or hand-selling titles? Take a few minutes to watch short videos where kids talk passionately about books and vote for your favorite one. Bookmark www.storytubes.info
<http://www.storytubes.info/> and visit the site of the StoryTubes National Contest often this month. See a fourth grader who used technology so that she appears to be walking through the pages of Puss in Boots. Watch a girl become the various characters in The Thief Lord, as well as the host who interviews them. These and more are top contestants in the Hair-Raising Tales category. Voting begins Monday, May 5. Each Monday in May, voting begins for a new category. Did Black Beauty affect the way we treat horses? What if you were in charge of a memorial service for Marley the dog? Check out these in the category From or For the Heart. In Of Heroes and Heroines, meet a boy whose fascination with Abraham Lincoln was piqued by a specific book, or see a second grader who imagines he is Captain Underpants. Nonfiction takes the stage in Facts, Fads and Phenoms. Hear from a girl who read a book that led her to raising chickens, and a first grader who is an expert on Napoleon. Even if you just want evidence that there are still kids out there who love books, take a few minutes to watch young readers in action.
