For some delightful history of picture books in the U.S. (commonly called "America" by those who may not realize that, geo-centric as we are here in the U.S. of A., we are only one of the 'murikas), check out Leonard S. Marcus newest (well, newest to this nanosecond):MINDERS OF MAKE-BELIEVE, idealists, entrepreneurs, and the shaping of American
[sic] Children's Literature [sic]" (HM) No matter where you poke in the text, there will be something to alert you to history, persons, books. And, since this discussion commenced with something about Walker books--there are references to Sebastian Walker--he of the imprint.

Ever so much in Marcus' latest gift to us.

As usual Saint Leonard (or is it Leonard the Blesse`d?) has given us an interesting, lively book--and all the niceties of bibliography, footnotes, etc., etc., ad. naus.

NO--I am NOT being paid to write this.

YES--go forth and READ (and buy) it)
