Just a little kvetch here about rhyming picture books.
A rhyme doesn't make a poem or a good book. There are still quite a number of terrible verse picture books being written, and when so many good authors can't stay in print, it seems odd to me that these things proliferate.
Yes, nursery rhymes and good rhythmic stories are so wonderful and enjoyable to read with children, but please, publishers, spare us some of this doggerel
(usually with a sappy message) that continues to be published.
