LOUIS UNTERMEYER in THE PURSUIT OF POETRY (Simon & Schuster, l969) cites Frost's own reaction to tearing apart "Stopping by Woods...".
Frost said: "I've been bothered with that one than anybody has ever been with any poem in just pressing it with more it should be pressed for. It means enough without being pressed. All the poem means is that it is very nice here, but I must be getting home. There are chores to do."
Another critic indicated to him that the last three lines implied Frost longed for an after-life in heaven. Frost smiled, shook his head and said, "No. It only means I want to get the hell out of there."
Children, like Frost, want to 'get the hell out of there', too!
Rather than dissecting, and analyzing, why not just read them another poem?
  Time will be better spent!
