Sally has revived my memory of undergraduate English college days and lots of discussion of Frost's Stopping By the Woods poem. Is the poet considering suicide? In interviews and elsewhere Frost repeatedly stated that the poem was NOT about thoughts of suicide but just of a beautiful woods at the end of the day. My professor proceeded to tell us as we argued back and forth that even the poet might not know what he was alluding to. I found that really ridiculous but learned that if asked ? regurgitate what the professor wanted, not what I truly thought. Luckily, I hung onto my own understandings and the comments from poets when found ? both strong enough to give me a sense of the strength and beauty of poetry. I always hope to share those traits with children. Of course, I also love to share the silliness, the humor, and the delight of the sounds of words in any form. Thanks for the memories! Erlene
