Dear Jacqueline:
Your post gave me goose bumps!
It was in the l970's that Barbara Pilon and I were quite active in NCTE. She was a dear friend of mine. She was young, beautiful, and had a great knowledge of children's poetry. We spent endless amounts of time together.
Somehow we lost track of one another after she became quite ill at a very young age.

I am happy to note that a poetry award has been set up in Barbara's name and would like to know more about it.
It is amazing to me how the past comes back via the internet. Back in l972, Barbara compiled a small paperback for the Xerox Corporation titled CONCRETE IS NOT ALWAYS HARD, long out of print.
I went to my library this morning, took out my autographed copy, and silently thanked Barbara for this gem that was far ahead of its time.

Barbara's husband, Al, endowed a poetry award in her name at Worcester State College in Worcester, MA. Each year poetry continues to stir the imagination and touch lives in Worcester through the passion and commitment of this remarkable duo. Jacqueline Finn
