The same dynamic may be at work (at a considerably higher intensity) in many of the school mass murders. I have heard that a TV psychiatrist is trying to encourage classroom teachers to "review" movies, TV dramas, and video games--as well as popular books--for their students to try to anticipate-debunk the perpetrator's glamour that seems to be built in to some presentations. Sounds like one more job for busy professionals, but could come to outrank endless testing. In my own high school a few years ago English teachers created a unit debunking TV advertising. Was very popular with kids, but some parents complained that their children were becoming "too untrusting, too cynical too early." Jonathan Pearce
