I agree about The Girls--for fifth graders. But it doesn't really make the bullied girls feel any better--just makes their situation more real because it's been written about. A mild bullying series by Cynthia DeFelice starts with The Ghost of Fossil Glen. It's a mystery as well, so the bullying isn't the main thing. We've had an anti-bullying program at my elementary school for years, and have all the picture books mentioned so far, as well as several others, but I don't see it having much effect. Sad. If you can find Fleischman's A Fate Totally Worse Than Death, it's a humorous look at mean girls who get their comeupance (for middle school kids).
