[CCBC-Net] Hear These Words: Audio Books

It was a complete surprise to me when I discovered there was an audio book of my picture book, "The Wacky Substitute," put out by Scholastic Audio and narrated by Jeff Brooks. I put it into my CD player with trepidation and was delighted to find "the enjoyment of letting go" that Angela speaks of. Listening to the story with the fun of added sound effects and music I could hardly believe that all this began the day I broke my glasses. It's wonderful to think of all the people who have worked together to make another offering to children. Frankly, I had no idea at the time that picture books were sometimes made into audio books; I had assumed it was only novels. And now a whole new world has opened up to me. Thanks to all of you for this discussion. Sally Derby

("No Mush Today" will be out this fall from Lee & Low with amazing illustrations by Nicole Tadgell)
