Here's one.. has anyone mentioned Shirley Jackson's "Life Among the Savages"? ("Raising Demons" is great too.) I read both as a middle schooler and loved them. My daughter picked Savages for our mother-daughter book group and the girls took turns reading their favorite parts aloud. It's very funny. My mother had it in her bookshelf otherwise I'm not sure if I would have found it so early on.
