TEACHING BERLIN ? A TRAVEL SEMINAR June 2008

Educators from all disciplines and levels interested in honing their teaching skills while exploring one of the world's most exciting cities will join Professors Marilyn Ward and Greg Baer to visit Berlin in June 2008. After four days of workshops at the Carthage campus, during which they will review aspects of standards-based lesson planning related to multiple intelligences, interdisciplinarity, and cross-cultural competence while designing a teaching unit of their own, participants will travel to Berlin. During ten days in Germany's capital city, we will explore literature, art, architecture, and music and study political, economic, historical, educational, sociological and cultural issues relating to Berlin. Using materials, experiences and ideas collected there, participants will develop interdisciplinary teaching units focused on Berlin.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SEMINAR INCLUDE:

= a pre-travel orientation and workshop to provide a practical and theoretical foundation for our travel seminar
