  I was really shocked, too, as Absolutely True Diary was such a strong book in a year that was flooded with strong books.

Yep, I was surprised. I cannot understand why it was not even an honor book. Second-guessing the Committees will always be with us.

Was it just me, or was it a bit of a shock to others, too, that ABSOLUTELY TRUE DIARY wasn't even an honor book for the Printz? If you win the National Book Award, are you still eligible for the Printz? Just curious... -Sam
