[CCBC-Net] fiction vs. nonfiction on Mock Newbery lists

I haven't published a novel so I can't speak in terms of length, but having written both fiction and nonfiction PBs, I will say that nonfiction is MUCH harder. It's quite challenging to make something factual entertaining and to make it read like fiction. Research also takes up a ton of time. I can see why there aren't many nonfiction books on reading lists, though--as a kid I wouldn't go near them... or at least the ones available to me at the time. Of course, I didn't like to read in general so maybe my childhood memories don't really count.

We know that nonfiction books hardly ever

> (and that is one reason the Sibert was created). Is
> it because we think
> fiction is harder to write?
