Ying Chang Compestine will speak for the USBBY session at ALA's Midwinter meeting in Philadelphia. If you're a USBBY member or are registered for ALA, you're invited to attend. The session is Saturday, January 11, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Liberty Ballroom from 8-10 p.m.

Revolution Is Not a Dinner Party is Ms. Compestine's autobiographical novel about growing up during the Cultural Revolution in Chairman Mao's China. Published by Heny Holt in 2007, it is the first middle school novel from an author of recognized children's picture books. Henry Holt is hosting the session for the United States Board on Books for Young People and for the American Library Association.

Joan Atkinson

Past President, USBBY
