I am fascinated by the responses to this book and how each of us can relate to the time period by a personal reference. I suppose it shows our age to some extent...the minute I hear the Monkees I can visualize my brother with the record playing it on his stereo! But mention the words "record" and "stereo" to my own kids and it is a foreign language!
I have to admit I read this book in late November and have not really had an opportunity to book talk or refer it to students. I am in a k-5 school and I would peg this as a good 5th grade reader.
What are the kids saying about this book? There are lots of cultural references they may not have frame of reference to.
