I have to second /Hugo Cabret/, it is certainly my favourite book of the year. Here are some of the others that have caught my attention...
/Robot Dreams/- by Sara Varon Wordless, graphic novel format?wonderful illustrations convey the story of a dog and his robot.
/Knock Knock/ (various authors, Dial Books) ? The classic kid joke gets the royal treatment by 14 illustrious illustrators.
/The End/ by David LaRochelle- A very funny story that kids really like, and nicely illustrated too. Lots of detail?and the story?happens in the illustrations.
/There is a Bird on your head/- Mo Willems Willems is just a funny guy, his books show us that every time. This one is a great addition to the Elephant and Piggie series of early readers.
