I agree that fewer students are actually READING the books made into movies that they like. However, when a movie is dreadful, like The BFG, Eragon and Roll of Thunder it can encourage students to read the real thing! Personally, I wish they'd bring back the "After school specials" ABC ran in the 1980's. They adapted a great version of Byars' Pinballs that I still remember!
