The Wolves in the Walls is another potentially screy Gaiman, and you can always rework it from the Wolves' point of view. It's great for a sense of empowerment; it was the child who knew what was going on all along. And The Stones of Muncaster Mill by Westall is really really scarey and very short so it can be done in one long sitting, with the lights low, of course. Edie Ching St. Albans School

At our middle school, the horror tastes of our students run the gamut from "Goosebumps" to Stephen King and everything in between.
One horror title that many of our students have enjoyed is Jade Green by Naylor.
On Halloween, various members of our staff take turns reading horror stories to classes visiting the LMC throughout the day. My favorite title for horror read aloud is Vivian Vande Velde's All Hallows' Eve: 13 stories. These are really creepy stories; we choose the right stories for each grade level.

**Today we'll begin our discussion of the CCBC-Net topic for the second part of October: Horror Stories.
And to what books do younger readers with whom you work turn--or do you turn yourself when offering up tales of horror or other scintillating scares?
