In this issue:
Writing contest entries on topics from summertime to tigers; a House Subcommittee's vote that could end books for the blind and children with learning disabilities; a list of good books on writing; a review of a funny and engaging YA title; a conversation with a teen on whether young people can get published; and an educator's response on how audiobooks may help children. http://www.childrencomefirst.com/ccfbulletin0604.shtml
The theme of this month's writing contest is Halloween so we've chosen an appropriate first line for it, "It was a dark and stormy night..." Without doing a google or internet search, do you know where this first line came from? Who was the first one to use it? What does NASA have to do with it? Is it related to Halloween? First take our survey and then read more about this well known first line. http://www.childrencomefirst.com/stormy.shtml
We had a GREAT response to our tiger-themed writing contest, celebrating September as "Save the Tiger" month. From 2nd graders to grandparents many participated and their entries are posted on the CCF site, http://www.childrencomefirst.com/onlinecontestentries.shtml
