As part of our participation in Banned Books Week, PEN AMERICAN CENTER is hosting a half-hour podcast of Robie Harris (author of IT'S PERFECTLY NATURAL, and other books that have been challenged) and Susan Patron (author of Newberry winner THE HIGHER POWER OF LUCKY). The talk, moderated by the novelist Perri Klass, is a heartening demonstration of how seriously these two fine writers take their work and their responsibility to children. They also acknowledge the wonderful support they receive from librarians.
We hope you'll listen to the podcast, post your comments on it, and also urge others to listen. This conversation will remain onine for a long time, so if you can't listen this week, we hope you will seek it out later.
It's at: http://www.pen.org
As always, The Children's/Young Adult Writers Committee at PEN is ready to help respond to challenges writers and librarians may receive.
