Jackie French is an author who amazes and impresses me. I've laughed through _Diary of a Wombat_ (while being charmed by Bruce Whatley's illustrations) multiple times, and was surprised when I realized she'd also written _Hitler's Daughter_. The dual strands of story in that book -- and the unusual approach to depicting wartime Germany -- made it a fast and thought-provoking read.
