I am very much looking forward to this discussion. Looking over the list, I see some old favorites that I sincerely hope are still being read today. As for the oldest book I see being read today, I know my grandson, age 3, loves Millions of Cats, as I do. And only a few years ago -- well, maybe 10 -- one of my granddaughters thoroughly enjoyed The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle. Could it be because both books are about animals that they have retained their appeal, or because they are fantasy, and as such, timeless?
