I, too, must have missed the beginning of this thread. We are aware of several, wonderful independent bookstores that cater to the children's literature market.
The Association of Booksellers for Children has the following description of their mission on their homepage: "The ABC is a national membership association that offers a support network for professional independent children's booksellers who share the goal of encouraging quality and service within the children's book industry." Hey, I think I may have missed the beginning of this conversation... but anyway, here is a great independent children's bookstore in Cincinnati.

Go to www.newenglandbooks.org for the New England Independent Booksellers Association home page. Under specialty stores, children's, you will find Brookline MA's Children's Bookshop, Falmouth MA's Eight Cousins Children's Books, Shelburne VT's Flying Pig Bookstore, Cheshire CT's Alphabet Garden, and a host of general independents with strong children's departments like Toadstool?in several New Hampshire towns, The UConn Co-op in Storrs CT, Titcomb Books?on the Cape,?and Wellesley (MA)?Booksmith. There is a strong group of independent children's booksellers in New England who have been colleagues and champions of children's books and their authors and illustrators.
