My takes - disagree as you please -
I'd have to go back to read on the Trace, but I think the reason it showed up previously for Harry at the house was because they knew it was a muggle home, therefore it had to be Harry (in their eyes). When the Weasleys were there, they had requested a temporary connection to the Floo Network, so that would lift any alarms, I would assume.
I thought it was actually important that we see Harry was capable of using an Unforgivable Curse, so they we learned he could, that he was mad enough, because we as readers needed some clue that yes, Harry really might be able to kill Voldemort afterall. But it was far more appropriate that in reality, he didn't HAVE to use them - that deeper magic ruled (ie owner of the elder wand) - thus, really not making him a killer.
As for the sword, it all comes down to the visions of Ownership. I think the fact that Neville was able to get it through (GG's) sorting hat, shows that GGryffindor did not steal the sword - it was rightfully his. Thus, Neville could receive it. Personally, it was all I could do not to stand up and cheer for Neville - he really came into his own in this book. As for what next - as a point of honor, I wouldn't be at all suprised if Harry held to his word and returned it to the goblins - perhaps requesting the fake in return so that there was something of GG's at Hogwarts.
