My daughter kept an alarming tally on the refrigerator as she read HP7. She ended up with 68 dead--this included non-humans (Hedwig and Dobby), but didn't include muggles or death-eaters, because it was too hard to keep track of everyone--I think it included the 50 dead at the final battle.
I enjoyed this book more than I expected to, and found it interfered more with my normal life than I've let a book in a long time(partly because while I read it I had two sympathetic 11 year olds hovering over my shoulder ready to commiserate over the latest tragedy)...
I'm appreciating reading comments about everything, particularly the use of unforgivable curses by the good guys (hmmmm....) and the race/discrimination issues.
