I picked up on the need for him to see Lily's eyes immediately, and for those of you who follow Mugglenet knew from the interviews that her eyes were/would be important. Also bear in mind Dumbledore's comment to Snape after the killing of Harry's parents that Harry has Lily's eyes....it was the final part that convinced Snape to play double agent. Perhaps if Harry hadn't had them, Snape wouldn't have had the constant reminder of why he was doing all of this.
Speaking of eyes, before HP7 came out, I had to go back and re-read some of the earlier ones. In the beginning of 6, when Bellatrix and Narcissa visit Snape in Spinners End, he commented that Voldemort was a highly skilled legilimens, and that very few could hide things from him...like himself. It made me notice in 7 that everytime Snape was with Voldemort, he never looked directly at him....
Regardless, I loved the book. No, it may not be the highest quality of literature, but the overall completeness of it was great, plus the growth of Harry along the way was well done.
Has anyone heard any complaints yet about Molly calling Bellatrix a bit--? My SIL and I were arguing over if it was necessary and appropriate. I understood it, she didn't agree with it. Any comments?
