The post regarding HarperCollins is ridiculous...rumored and filled with hearsay.
  I began the I CAN READ POETRY SERIES in l984 with SURPISES -- a book that remains in print after 23 years!
  I have two new I CAN READ POETRY BOOKS in production, as well as many backlist titles.
  There are several 'celebrity' books on the HarperCollins list that are excellent, including Julie Edwards' MANDY, and, of course all of the books by the playwright, lyricist, cartoonist, Shel Silverstein!
  Anyone who puts in the time, effort, and laborious job of writing a book -- any kind of book, is a celebrity in my book.
  Give me an hour with Patricia MacLachlan, Charlotte Zolotow, Sharon Creech, Walter Dean Myers ... on and on ... and I'd certainly be in better company than Madonna!
