I have a similar complaint to Ruth's, but mine is about Namioka's Yang family series. I wanted very much to love it, but I found a few too many condescending stereotypes (including that "r" and "l" switch in one scene that was played, I suppose, for broad humor but which didn't succeed, at least not to me) and ridiculous situations overshadowed any positive aspects.

I am very fond of Grace Lin's YEAR OF THE DOG, Lenore Look's books (especially the ones about Ruby Lu), Kam Mak's MY CHINATOWN, Belle Yang's HANNAH IS MY NAME, Janet S. Wong's APPLE PIE FOURTH OF JULY (I love her poetry, too), Paul Yee's ROSES SING ON NEW SNOW, Milly Lee's and Laurence Yep's books and, while not specifically about immigration, RUBY'S WISH by Shirin Yim Bridges and MAHJONG ALL DAY LONG by Ginnie and Beth Lo.
