The Bank Street Infancy Institute, a three-day conference for professionals who work with infants and toddlers, will be June 19-21, 2007 at the Bank Street College of Education in New York City. Last year, over 15 children's librarians attended from across the country. The Insitute presents keynote addresses and thirty different small-group workshops on a variety of topics covering the growth and development of young children.
  For a complete program lisiting and to register, go to: http://www.bankstreet.edu/infancyinstitute/
  While the date is close to the ALA Annual Conference in Washington, DC
(I have been encouraging them to change the Institute), it is a quick trip from NYC to DC!
  Most of the participants are child care providers, but there are many programs at the Institute of interest to library professionals and others , especially as we are called to work with younger and younger children. Some of the workshops at this year's institute, which would inform our work with young children, include:

* Engaging and Supporting Families whose Children have Special Needs
* Identifying and Supporting Early Language Development
* Selecting and Evaluating Books
* Getting a Grip on Toddler Behavior
* The Pushes and Pulls of Working with Toddlers
* Playing, Thinking, and Feeling
* What Caregivers and Teachers Need to Know About the Developing Brain
* Parents as Partners in Early Literacy Development
* Understanding and Supporting Bilingual Language Development in Infants and Toddlers
* Exploring Children's Love of Movement
* Exploring Sensory Activities for Toddlers
* You Are The Songleader!
* What 'Cha Got Cookin'? : Cooking with Toddlers
* Block Building for Two-Year-Olds
* What's the Difference? Working with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Parents

If you have any questions, I would be happy to help. Here is hoping I see you at the Institute!
  Please excuse any crossing postings.

  Best, Rachel
