I agree with everything that has been said about Kadir Nelson's illustrations of Harriet Tubman. He made such good use of light and angles. If you look closely at the illustrations, you will notice how the eye is drawn forward to the next page, leading the reader on Harriet's journey. Superb. Christopher Myers made good use of angles too in Jazz. Henrietta was right on in saying that you can "hear" his illustrations. What an excellent way to illustrate Jazz. I just checked out Sharon Draper's story and look forward to reading it.
