Copper Sun is a brilliantly written piece by Sharon Draper. From the beginning, the reader is pulled into Amari's story. One can easily smell, feel, and hear the various events and experiences of the characters. The reader is privy to the complex relationship between Amari and Polly because of the mores of American society. Our Adult Book Club read Copper Sun and the book club members were challenged and inspired by the story. This book should be recommended readers for adults as well as young adults. Kudos to Sharon Draper for her first book written in the historical fiction genre! Kudos to the CSK Book Award Jury for doing such a fantastic job!
