I found "Pull of the Ocean" fascinating, beautifully written, and in some ways quite dark and terrifying, although there were moments of lightness. I am wondering whether it is suitable for my 4th-6th graders? The age recommendations in the reviews seem to run the gamut. Has anyone used this book with young readers? How have they responded? Even with knowledge of the Tom Thumb story, the writing may be a stretch for them. On the other hand, many of them loved David Almond's
"Skellig," and they also seem less bothered by the grimness in Inkheart than I am.
