I've just rejoined the list and don't know if I'm infringing on the month's topic or if it's still open discussion time. I'm teaching a short course for teachers and librarians on controversial Jewish children's books and want to spend some time talking about the difference between good and bad books in the literary sense. But, is such a distinction still made? Are there still standards of literary quality that can be applied to the evaluation of children's literature in any meaningful way? I want to believe there are but I am curious as to what the current thinking is. Thanks! Linda Silver Jewish Valuesfinder, www.ajljewishvalues.org
