I thoroughly enjoyed both TEAM MOON and QUEST FOR THE TREE KANGAROO.
TEAM MOON is winningly told, involving so many of the people behind the scenes--with quotes from their very lips--that I finally had a sense of what a tremendous undertaking the moon launch was, involving so many people, with so many chances for failure. And the dramatic black pages plunge the reader into contemplation of that vast void into which these travelers journeyed.
In another kind of journey, Sy Montgomery and Nic Bishop give us a wonderful sense of life in the villages where the TREE KANGAROOS are found. I consistently love the books of this writer-photographer pair, who always explore such interesting mysteries and find such fascinating people to learn from.
These books demonstrate how the best current nonfiction is a far cry from the dry science texts I grew up with.
