Hi all,
  I have been quietly sitting back and watching everyone's reaction to the word "scrotum," both on CCBC and on AOL of which I am a member. I am most interested to note that during our Newbery discussion on CCBC recently, I don't ever recall anyone EVER bringing up any problem with the use -- we were too busy discussing the entire book and how it was worthy of the award it received.
 Lucky is a beautifully written book and it is a shame that the population at large would focus on something as "controversial" as a part of the male anatomy. How is the term any different than using breast or buttocks? During the children's movie Kindergarten Cop millions of viewers (children and adults alike) laughed in hysterics after a little boy innocently said to Arnold Schwarzenegger, "Boys have penises, girls have vaginas." I just don't see what the big fuss is about! I cannot believe how backwards this country's morals have become and it makes me want to cry.
