Today we begin our discussion of the 2007 Caldecott Award winner and honor books:
Winner: Flotsam illustrated by David Wiesner (Clarion)
Honor Books:
Gone Wild: An Endangered Animal Alphabet illustrated and written by David McLimans (Walker)
Moses: When Harriet Tubman Led Her People to Freedom illustrated by Kadir Nelson. Written by Carole Boston Weatherford (Jump at the Sun / Hyperion)
We hope that many of you have had the chance to look at one or more of these books.
What are your thoughts about these three distinctively different works?
