[CCBC-Net] Mock Awards announcement

Greetings! My apologies to all, as this is well after the normal announcement period. However with the awards announcements just days away....

 

The Dayton Metro Library children's librarians held a Mock Caldecott at its December Children's Department meeting. Here are the results of our election:

 

Winner: Moses by Carole Weatherford, illus. by Kadir Nelson

Honors: Sea Horse : the shyest fish in the sea by Christ Butterworth, illus by John Lawrence

              John, Paul, George & Ben written & illus. by Lane Smith

              Flotsam written & illus. by David Wiesner

              Theodore by Frank Keathing, illus. by Mike Wimmer

              Brothers by Yin, illus by Chris Soentpiet

 

Although we did not hold a Mock Newbery at this meeting, we heard reviews of over 50 titles that may be considered for the award. Here is a short-list of favorite titles:

A Mock Sibert was held at the January Children's Department meeting. Here are those results:
